Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is processed in your browser. Only the small model file is downloaded to your device, and it is cached for next time.
Why is the first run slower?
The first time, the browser has to download the model: about 5 MB for objects and about 26 MB for people. After that it is stored in the browser cache and starts much faster.
What file do I get?
With a transparent background, a PNG that keeps the transparency. With any other background, a JPG, which is much lighter. Both are the size of your photo; very large photos are reduced first so your device does not run out of memory.
How do I make a white background for a marketplace photo?
Choose the product photo, keep the Object or animal mode and pick White. You get a JPG; check the marketplace's own photo rules in its seller help.
How do I remove the background from a photo of a person?
Choose the photo and switch the mode to Person: that model handles hair and shoulders better. Then pick a background and download.
Can I put my own picture behind the subject?
Yes. Choose Your picture and pick an image from your device, and the subject is placed on top of it. A soft shadow underneath is one checkbox away.
Why are the edges of the cut-out rough?
Usually because the subject and background are similar in colour or the background is busy. Try the other mode, or a photo with more contrast.
