Frequently asked questions
What is Discord's file size limit?
About 10MB for free accounts and more for paid ones. Check Discord's help for the current value.
Why do we not reduce the resolution?
To reach 10MB it is enough to lower JPEG quality. The resolution stays original, so the picture keeps its detail.
Can I compress a video for Discord?
Use the video compression page. It keeps high quality and reduces 4K clips to Full HD, but it does not aim for an exact size, so check that the result fits Discord's limit.
Why does Discord say my file is too large?
The photo is over your account's upload limit. Choose it on this page, and the file is fitted under 9.5MB at full resolution.
Will the photo look worse in Discord after compressing?
Hardly: the resolution stays the same and the highest JPEG quality that fits is used. Only very detailed photos show a difference at full zoom.
Can I compress several screenshots for Discord?
Yes. Choose them all at once; each file is handled separately and can be downloaded on its own or in a ZIP.
