Frequently asked questions
What is the limit of mail services?
It differs between services, usually about 20–25MB for the whole message. Check your provider's help page for the exact value.
Wouldn't a zip archive be better?
An archive does not shrink photos, because JPEG is already compressed. It is more effective to reduce the pictures themselves.
Will the recipient notice the compression?
On screen the difference is hardly visible, but for printing send the originals.
How do I attach many photos to one email?
Pick them all here at once and download the ZIP. Each photo is under 700KB, so about twenty fit comfortably into one email.
Why does my email with photos bounce?
Usually the attachments together exceed the mail limit, which is about 25MB for the whole message at most services. Compress the photos here and send the email again.
Should I send photos by email or as a link?
For a few photos to view on screen, attach compressed copies. For many originals or photos for printing, a cloud-storage link is more convenient.
